Developer Larian Studios has opened a new office in Guildford, England. This development house comes not long after Larian established its Malaysia-based team last year to help Larian become a 24-hour developer working on Baldur’s Gate 3.
Director Swen Vincke revealed the news during the second Panel from Hell livestream, in which Larian Studios detailed Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 4, the game’s “biggest” update yet that includes the new Druid class. The team is “incredibly experienced” and filled with “the next-generation of developers.” Guildford originally started with 10 people, but has since doubled and includes talent from film projects like the Avengers, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars.
Guildford, though only recently connected to Larian as an official studio, has been working with the developer since 2019. The team has worked on various Baldur’s Gate 3 elements, such as the graphical user interface (GUI), rendering engine, online services, and animations.
Larian Studios, with the newly minted Guildford team, now has six development studios across the world: one in North America, four around the European region, and one in Malaysia.
