Destroy All Humans Announced For Nintendo Switch In Dastardly Fakeout

Destroy All Humans came to PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC last year, but the game skipped out on Nintendo Switch. That’s changing very soon, as the game is releasing on the portable hybrid system with two collector’s editions. We do have to say, however, that THQ Nordic’s way of announcing the port on social media was pretty dastardly.

How did THQ Nordic go about announcing the Nintendo Switch version? It decided to do a bait-and-switch, literally, by tricking fans into thinking it was about to announce a remake of Destroy All Humans 2.

What do a Destroy All Humans! remake and the number 2 have in common?

That’s right, you can now enjoy Destroy All Humans! with your 2 joy cons. While doing a number 2. You’re welcome.

Evil. Sinister. Perhaps the publisher is trying to get into the mindset of a human-slaying alien by doing something like this, but it certainly fooled plenty of people on Twitter.

In all seriousness, the Switch version of Destroy All Humans arrives on June 29, complete with all the DLC released previously. It’ll cost $40, and you can purchase the significantly more expensive Crypto-137 Edition or DNA Collector’s Edition, as well, but they are limited to the EU and UK only.

Despite not being a sequel, Destroy All Humans didn’t just remaster the original game. It’s essentially a complete remake, with new visuals that look like they were made for a modern game, albeit with the same basic gameplay and structure of the first version. If the Switch teaser trailer is anything to go by, it’s going to look quite sharp on Nintendo’s system, too.

The Destroy All Humans series has had something of a tumultuous history thus far. The first two games were well-received, but a Wii spin-off and the Xbox 360 game Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon both received negative reviews. 12 years went by before the remake released, and it’s unclear what plans are for the future. A tease from back in February seemed to hint at a full remake of the second game.

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.
