Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is coming to PS5. Creator Hideo Kojima appeared on Summer Game Fest, chatted about his next project, and then debuted a trailer for the Director’s Cut with some distinct Metal Gear elements.
The trailer showed Sam “Porter” Bridges exploring a small stock room, dumping out a box of oranges, and hiding inside just like Solid Snake. The trailer was captured on PS5 At the end, the title sequence came up revealing the Director’s Cut, followed by a PS5 console shot. Host Geoff Keighley remarked that the full reveal is “weeks away” and that the PS5 update is coming soon.
Prior to the Death Stranding reveal, Kojima talked about how COVID has impacted game development at his new studio, and teased some details about his next project. He said that the reality of COVID was similar to Death Stranding, and it’s caused him to rethink his creative process. He said he can’t say what his future creative projects will look like, but he’s putting thought into how to spearhead new ways of creating games. He also reiterated that he likes to put societal elements into his games.
